Joining Thames Valley Controls (TVC) in June, Niko Gafos may be the new kid on the block, but he’s certainly no industry newbie. Having worked for some sector powerhouses, he’s now taken the reins as Managing Director at TVC, delivering high quality lift controls and monitoring solutions. We caught up with him as he started his new role to uncover his plans for the company and learn more about his passions and vision.

Tell us a bit about yourself – where did you start your career journey?
I started my career without a rigid plan. I qualified in IT software production and design and went to work in a small independent lift company in Liverpool to do their IT. It was a long time ago and I was installing wired networks – no Wi-Fi then! They didn’t know how to use the equipment so asked me to stay.
I have always enjoyed working with people and had a clear interest in solving real problems and building things that work. Over time, that’s evolved into leading teams and businesses where performance and people go hand in hand. That’s been the constant throughout.
