The IAEC (International Association of Elevator Consultants) Forum took place at the Hilton Buena Vista hotel in Orlando, Florida from May 5th to 7th.

The event was heavily sponsored by the industry and well attended by both trade stands and delegates alike.

The President of IAEC, Nicholas Montesano, opened the forum by welcoming delegates including our correspondent Dave Cooper.

The first presentation was from Greg DeCola of VDA who presented a fascinating paper on filed employees elevator testing manual from an inspectors perspective. This covered a wide range of global industry issues such as water ingress through to single plunger brake failures.

The second session was presented by Dave Cooper who covered escalator accident research including falls over the sides of escalators, the use of shopping trolleys on escalators and also the recent upsurge in the number of limb entrapments resulting in amputation.
