One year ago, the CIBSE Society of Vertical Transportation (SoVT) was launched, building on the proud legacy of the CIBSE Lifts Group and creating a professional home for everyone shaping the future of vertical transportation, from students and emerging talent to engineers, consultants, manufacturers, contractors, academics and industry leaders.

The transition to a Society was about building on that legacy with greater ambition: strengthening professional recognition, developing the next generation and creating a platform through which our industry can connect, learn and lead.

An important step has been the introduction of structured SoVT membership grades. Through CIBSE, these provide pathways towards Engineering Council professional registration at EngTech, IEng and CEng levels, alongside SoVT post-nominals recognising professional experience and achievement in vertical transportation.
