World Cup Challenges Bring Friendly Competition to the Lift Industry

Football fever has spread across the lift industry, with companies organising challenges, sweepstakes and competitions to celebrate the World Cup. From testing practical football skills to predicting tournament results, the activities brought colleagues together and introduced some friendly rivalry into the workplace.

Dewhurst Tests Its Football Skills

The Dewhurst UK team marked the tournament with a keepy-uppy challenge, inviting employees to see who could keep a football in the air for the longest.

The competition produced impressive performances, unexpected moments and plenty of competitive spirit. It also gave team members an opportunity to take a break from their usual work and enjoy some light-hearted competition with colleagues.

After progressing through the competition, Thaddeous reached the final and claimed the match ball with an impressive display of control and consistency.

A&A Finds Its World Cup Prediction Champion

A&A Global challenged employees to predict the two teams that would reach the World Cup final.

Entries were submitted a month before the result was announced, requiring participants to combine their football knowledge with a little luck. Mike emerged as the winner after correctly predicting both finalists, earning himself a Tesco voucher.

His successful prediction meant that the competition had effectively been decided before the final whistle of the tournament.

Shorts Summer Football Challenge Goes to the Wire

The Shorts Summer Football Challenge remained closely contested until the end of the tournament.

Employees submitted predictions throughout the competition, with three participants eventually finishing level on 136 points. A tie-break was therefore needed to determine the overall winner.

Ann-Marie Maxwell was crowned champion after recording ten correct predictions, the highest total among the three joint leaders.

Shorts thanked everyone who participated and confirmed that its Summer Football Challenge is expected to return in two years.

Finance Triumphs in the Apex Sweepstake

Apex Lifts also introduced some friendly competition into the workplace by organising a World Cup sweepstake.

The Sales team performed strongly, with Ray Murray and Kerry Gates securing second and third place respectively. However, it was the Finance team that ultimately claimed the trophy, as John Clare finished in first place.

Apex joked that John’s financial forecasting skills may have helped him select the winning team, although the company stopped short of confirming whether detailed tournament analysis had been involved.

The competitions offered employees across the industry an enjoyable way to follow the tournament, strengthen team relationships and bring some World Cup spirit into the workplace.
