Lift Industry Newsletter
March 2026

The Government has recently released its response to last year’s Late Payment Consultation.

LEIA was pleased to contribute to the consultation, representing the perspectives from our sector. It is encouraging to see the strength of feedback from all industries reflected in the proposed measures.

In particular, the industry strongly supports the proposed action on retention payments in construction. The intention to prohibit the withholding of retentions addresses a long-standing issue that has impacted cash flow and increased financial risk across the supply chain. Late payment continues to place a significant strain on businesses across the supply chain, particularly SMEs. The proposed package of measures represents a step towards creating a fairer, more transparent payment culture in this country.

Thank you to the LEIA members who also responded to the consultation:

CLYDE VALLEY LIFTS LIMITED, IDEAL LIFTS LIMITED, Jackson Lift Group, Midland Lift Services LTD., PIP Lift Service Limited, Professional Lift Services Ltd, Stannah Group. Temple Lifts Ltd, The General Lift Company

We look forward to continuing to work with Government and industry stakeholders to support effective implementation and to ensure these reforms deliver tangible results across the supply chain.

We also continue to support members through the LEIA Contract Guarantee Scheme.
