The 16th Symposium on Lift & Escalator Technologies took place last week at the Kettering Park Hotel, and it was fantastic to see so many familiar faces and new friends in the room. Over two full days, the programme covered a rich mix of topics including IoT and technology, safety & maintenance, engineering challenges, and traffic simulation & dispatching. The keynote presentation, titled “The Future Office”, was delivered by Mike Burton, a leader in sustainable, smart building design. Day two featured a fantastic panel discussion on Intelligent Buildings and Maintenance.

Many thanks to all the speakers and contributors whose dedication made the event a success. A special congratulations to the winners of the Dr. Gina Barney Emerging Excellence Award for Vertical Transportation, Begum Avdagic and Gemma Moore for their paper on  The Potential of Digital Out-of-Home Advertising in the Lift Industry. And special recognition to our exhibitors — CP Automation, CEDES, Digital Advanced Control, CE Electronics, Lester Controls, Global1Partners Ltd, SLS Sassi, and Thames Valley Controls — for bringing their innovations to the floor.
