Dave Cooper Reflects on a Career in Vertical Transportation

“I got into vertical transportation completely by accident.” That unexpected start led Dave Cooper to a career spanning decades, becoming CIBSE President and a SoVT Committee Member.

In a short video, Dave reflects on how the profession has changed, with lift engineers working more closely with the wider building services team on areas such as fire safety, evacuation and accessibility. He also discusses SoVT’s role in recognising professional competence, giving members a voice in standards development and encouraging the next generation into the industry.

Whether you’re starting out or have spent years in vertical transportation, watch Dave’s reflections HERE.
